Al Zahir wa al Batin, the Manifest and the Hidden, are two of the 99 names of God. A soul stands within a sacred interior, one window opening onto day and one onto night. The figure inhabits both simultaneously, as the divine is at once fully revealed in creation and forever concealed beyond it.
