BG2000: A light tackle reel generally sized for lighter freshwater applications
In the spring, Ill rig a jerkbait with a weighted 3/0 wide gap hook so that it will sink slowly, with soft twitches, down into current seams or boulder fields, he says
When engaged the reel is in freespool, this can be manipulated via the rear drag if you wish to make the baitrunner tighter when fishing up to snags
They are typically paired with a rod that has a trigger-shaped finger hook located in the handle area, which allows the user to assume a wider and more forward grip with the thumb and index finger semi-enveloping the reel while still maintaining a secured grasp on the handle via hooking with the middle/ring finger
